DRUIDS' "BENEFIT" SOCIAL,
Another of the series of delightful i Druids' dances was held at the Town ; i HaH on Wednesday evening last, i The Druids have completely captured i the support of dance-lovers in the i township by the wholesome element of i good cheer which pervades their ' i social gatherings. On this most re- ' j cent occasion the weather was quite i unfavourable to a very large assem- | blage. Had conditions been otherI wise, the hall would have proved inj capable of accommodating those attending, as the committee had sold a tremendous number of admission tickets, the proceeds from which are being devoted to the benefit of an invalided member of the Pride of Te Kuiti Lodge of Druids Bro. H. Welch. Despite the unpropi tious weather, the attendance showed an increase on even the large numbers present at previous Druids' socials, and the function was, if possible, more corI dial than ever. The hard-working { committee, comprising Mesdames I Simpson, Fletcher, Feran and Copper, j with Messrs Simpson, Fletcher, and ! Feran maintained their reputation in j the complete arrangements, most I especially in the provision of a capital supper; besides, the result of the canvassing undertaken in the sale of tickets has perhaps established a record for the town. The dance music was again supplied by Hetet's duo, with "extras" by Miss Wells, Dr Carolari, and Mr S. Gill. By special personal request, we refrain from particularising the very excellent services of the M.C. THE WANDERERS. The news that the Wanderers are returning to Te Kuiti will be received with delight by all levers oE music and fun. They show in the Town Hall on Friday next, the 25th. All the old favourites will reappear. The company is greatly strengthened by the addition of four new artists—Mr A. J. Black, of Auckland, a well-known Maoriland entertainer; Mr J. Ryan, an eminent basso, formerly of the Lyric Quartette; Miss Beatrice Mercer, very fine contralto; and Miss L. Irvine, a first-rate soprano. There will be an entiirely new programme, not one of the old items to be presented. The Wanderers have been all over the Dominion since their last visit, and have been drawing big houses. The Company is now undoubtedly one of the best on tour. On Friday next, the combination will pay a farewell visit to Te Kuiti, and a great treat may be expected. It is always a pleasure to have such a first-class company visiting the town, and they are certain to be welcomed back by very large audiences. Details will be found in another column. Seats can be reserved at McColl's. EMPIRE PICTURES. On Monday evening next the Empire Picture Company will give its usual exhibition in the Te Kuiti Hall, when a very bright and entertaining programme will be presented. This programme was screened on Wednesday last at the Town Hall, Hamilton, before a large audience, and the "Waikato Times" says it was undoubtedly one of the best series of moving pictures seen in that town, every item without exception being bright and crisp. Patron 3of the Empire Company have been so well catered for during the past nine months that it is almost unnecessary to say that they can at all times rest assured of a good entertainment.
