AMUSEMENTS
EMPIRE PICTURES. MONDAY'S PROGRAMME. The programme to be presented at the Te Kuiti Hall on Monday evening next will be a most attractive one, and cannot fail to win the approval of the company's many patrons, [t is not often residents of Te Kuiti, without travelling far afield, have an opportunity of seeing one of the world's most famous Zoological Gardens. Such an opportunity will be afforded on Monday night, when among other fine subjects to be screened will be a series of pictures showing the famous Zoological Gardens, Rome, noted not only for their lovely surroundings, but also for the wonderful and unique collection of animals it contains. Another fine educative subject will be a beautiful stereoptician study of flowers. The dramatic subjects, notably "Lost in the Soudan" and "The Courtship of Miles Standish," also the topical, scenic and comic items, are all splendid pictures, and those attending on Monday evening are promised a veritable feast of star subjects.
ALEXANDRA RINK. Rinking ia still booming, and the large numbers of ladies and gentlemen attending the rink this week have passed their opinion about the floor, and declare it to be in perfect condition. The management have overcome the difficulty of keeping the dust down, which has been somewhat troublesome recently. Next Tuesday a grand social and dance will be held inthe Rink, when dancers will have the pleasure of dancing on absolutely the fastest dance floor in the district. There will be no skating on Tuesday next, in order to prepare the floor for the evening's dance. Dancing will be carried on from 8 till 12 p.m.
TAYLOR-CARRINGTON CO. The Taylor - Carrington Musical Comedy Company visited Te Kuiti last evening, and played somewhat consistently through two farcical sketches before a large and good-natured audience. Our musical critic reports "a complete rest!" The private detective could not discover any "clue" — therefore he was unable to search for a "plot." The combined critical staff state they were "amused" —and seem determined to leave the matter at that.
