PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
"EXTENSION FUND. PEV. P. H. ERASER, M.A., IN TE KUITI. The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (if New Zealand, held in Auckland last year, originated a very important office in the interests of the home mission work and the progress of the church work generally. It was felt that the time was ripe for a general advance in mission ell'ort, and also for an all round improvement in the financial methods of carrying on the same. In order to effect this, it was decided to appoint the Kev. P. B. Eraser, M.A., to the position of organising agent for the Home mission and church extension funds. In Mr Eraser, the Assembly found a man eminently suitable for such office, possessing as he does the qualities of strong physique, ripe experience and large organising abilities. Since the beginning of the year Mr Eraser has been in many parts of the Dominion, travelling many hundreds of miles in his work, and has met with unqualified success in all the. home mission charges he has visited. Many of them lie succeeded in lifting out of the bane of great financial difficulties, and starting on a new era of progress. In every case testimony is borne to tho great benefits derived from his visits. Mr Eraser arrived in To Kuiti by this morning's express, and intends spending some time in the district organising the sustentafion and church extension funds. This effort should prove specially helpful to the local church at this juncture, faced as it is with the erection of tho new church and purchase of a manse for the minister. It is expected that Mr Eraser will get a good reception from his church people, and that as in other places, he shall render in To Kuiti very helpful service.
It is aiso intended to include Otorohanga in the effort, a visit being planned for that town within the next fortnight. The Rev. P. B. Frnser, M. A., will also assist in the general work of the charge, while here conducting service in the Te Kuiti Town Hall on Sunday evening at 7 o'clock. It in hoped that a large attendance will assemble to appreciate the presence not only of a leader in tin; church but also a minister of sterling ability.
