The Fanners' Auctioneering Co. report : At Tirau on Monday, 3rd July, we had a yarding of 1200 sheep and 548 cattle. For all store stock there was good competition and fair prices were obtained right through; store cattle showed the advance in price made at sales of last two weeks. Prices: Sound mouth ewes in lamb 12s to 13s, fat and forward ewes 12s 6d to 13s 3d, good calves £2 to £2 lis, smaller sorts 25s to 355, fat steers £8 10s, fat cows £5 to£6 ss, forward cows £4 10s, fresh conditioned rising 3 year steers £5 7s 6d, store steers £3 7s 6d to £3 12s; dairy cows and heifers were lower in price than late sales, but this was due to the want of condition and the appearance that the cows were backward.

At Te Kuiti, on Wednesday last, we only a small yarding of stock, 400 cattle and 700 sheep. There wa9 a good attendance and a strong demand for all classes, young cattle selling exceptionally well. Fat steers £8 10s to £8 12a 6d, fresh 3 and 3| year staers £5 16s, 18 month steers £3 9s to £3 10s, calves and yaarlings £2l 0s to £2 15s. calves 30s to 38s, springing heifers £7 to £B, empty 18 month heifers £3 6s, full mouth ewes in lamb 10s to lis Sd, 4 tooth ewes in lamb 17s 6d, fat and forward wethers 16s. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: — At Ohaupo on Tuesday, 4th inst., we held our usual sale, when we offered a fair yarding of cattle, comprising mainly of calves and young steers. The bidding was very spirited throughout for all young stock, which sold at advanced price's, yearlings selling at from £1 18s to £2 3s. On Wednesday, sth inst., we held our first dairy cow sale at Ohaupo, when a small yarding of dairy stock came forward. Competition was slack throughout, and ( we were only successful in selling a few under the hammer. However, considerable business was done afterwards, privately. We quote as follows: —Springing heifers £4 5s to £7, springing cows £7 to £8 10s.

On Thursday, 6th July, we held our usual tri-weekly sale in the Hamilton yards, when we had a fair yarding of sheep, compriied mainly of fat wethers from Palmerston, for which there was little competition. Lambs and fat ewes, however, sold at advanced prices with great competition. For breeding ewes, of which we had a big yarding, the competition unJer the hammer was slack. We were successful in disposing of the whole lot immediately after the sale. It is evident there is * a great demand for this class of stock, but buyers do not care to give the prices asked for. Pigs, of which we had a full yarding, sold at advanced prices, and there was great competition throughout. Fat bullocks and heifers also sold well, also empty heifers and calves. Springers again were dull of sale with one or two exceptions, when there was great competition for tip-top stuff. We quote: — Fat wethers 18s 6d, fat lambs well grown 12s 4d, small fat lambs 10a, fat ewes lis Gd to 12s, (5 tooth ewes in lamb 13s, 4 tooth ewes in lamb 15s 3d to £1 5s Bd, 2 tooth ewes 14s to 15s fid, aged ewes 10a 6d. fat bullocks £7 15s to £8 Is. fat heifers £5 to £6 Bs, store cows £3 5s to £3 12s, empty heifers £3 10s, heifera in calf small £4. calves £1 18s to £2 2s, springing heifer 3£6 2s 6d to £B. springing cows £5 5s to £6 ss, porkers 18s 4d to £l3 s fid, slips 13s 6d to 15s lid.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile AVehcy Co., report: At Ohaupo, on Tuesday, 4th inst., we had a medium yarding ot cattle, which all sold under brisk competition. Prices: Fat steers £7 10s to £8 15s, 28 month to 2 year steers £3 15s to £4 ss, calves mixed sexes £1 6s 6d to £2 3s heifer calves £2 Is to £2 6s, empty cows £3 to £3 15s, dairy cows £5 5s to £7, store ewes 7s. At Matamata, on sth inst., we yarded 758 cattle and several lines of sheep, also pigs, horses, implements, etc. There was a large attendance, and a keen demand for all stock, young cattle selling high, and almost a total clearance was effected. Prices: Fat cows £5 7s 6d to £7 10s, small fat steers £7, 2 to 2£ year steers £4 5s to £4 14s, 18 month steers £2l 8s to £3 6s, 20 month to 2 year steers £3 17s to £3 19s, 18 month to 2 year empty heifers £3 to £3 6s, empty cows £3 to £3 19s, calves £1 13s to £2 2s, yearlings £2 15s to £2 18s, dairy cows £5 to £7, 3 year heifers in calf £4 7s 6d to £7, ewes in lamb lis to 14s 6d, hoggets 7s to 10s, mixed sheep in forward condition lis 6d, store pigs 13s to 16s, breeding sows £1 10s to £1 15s, medium foals £7 10s to £8 2s. year filly £ll, ponies and cobs £1 to£ 4 15s to £6 10s.
