KING TO HIS PEOPLE.

AN IMPRESSIVE MESSAGE.

[I»Y TKLKGRAPH.—J'RKSS ASSOCIATION.] London, July 1.

King George has issued the follow ing letter to the people of the Em pire :

"My people! Now that the Coronation and its attendant ceremonials are over, I desire to assure the people of the British Empire of my grateful aense that their hearts have been with me through ic all.

"I felt this in the beautiful and impressive service in Westminster Abbey, the most solemn experience of my life, and scarcely less in the stirring Bcenes of the succeeding days when my people signified their recognition and heartfelt welcome to me as th iir Sovereign.

"This was apparent, not only by the loyal enthuisiasm of the Coronation Day progress through the different districts of London, but also by the thousands of messages of goodwill which have come across the seas from every part of the Empire. Such affectionate demonstrations profoundly touched me, and filled me afresh with faith and confidence."

The King adds he believed that "this generous outspoken sympathy with the Queen and myself 18 under God our surest source of strength. I am encouraged to go forward with renewed hope. Whatever perplexities or difficulties may be before me, my people, we shall all unite in facing ttyem resolutely and calmly, with public spirit, and confident that, under Divine Guidance, the ultimate outcome will be the common good.
