A. & P. BALL.
A BRILLIANT SUCCESS. Last evening in the Town Hall, the Ladies' Committee of the King Country Agricultural and Pastoral Association held a ball in aid of the funds of the Association. There were about eighty couples present, and a most enjoyable time was passed by everyone. Dancing commenced punctually at 8.30 o'clock and continued until the early hours of this morning. From the beginning everything went with a swing, with the result that the admirers of the goddess Terpsicore had a jolly time, which indeed must have been very gratifying to the ladies who had been working very hard for some time previous in order that their func tion might be a success. The enthusiasm and willingness with which the Committer have been working is certainly deserving of very great praise, and they are to be congratulated. The music was supplied by Hetet's band, and was up to its usual high standard, eliciting rounds of applause from the dancers at frequent in tervals. The floor was in excellent order. Messrs Dransfield and A. B. Jordan were Masters of Ceremonies. The supper, which was provided by the ladies, was most sumptuous. The Committee desire to thank those who kindly contributed towards the fine repast, especially Mr Thompson, who was untiring in his efforts in assisting the ladies, besides making a liberal donation.
