FINES INFLICTED.
[bt telegraph.—rama association.] Christchurch, This Day. At the Police Court a number of persons, including Salvationists, lay preachers, and Socialists, were fined for praying aloud or making speeches in Cathedral Square, contrary to the terma of the by-law. Cooke, a Socialist, refused on principle to pay hia fine, and was placed in custody.
