AMUSEMENTS.

EMPIRE PICTURES. There wag a crowded house on Monday evening last at the Empire Pciture Company's entertainment, when all the different items were well received. The dramatic subjects "How She Won Him," "The Judgment of the Mighty Deep, and "The Goldseekers were enjoyed by all. A very fine and laughable comedy, "A Double Elopement" brought forth roars of applause, while the scenic and comic element were up to their usual standard. We are promised a very fine programme for Monday evening next, when the star picture will be presented, entitled "The Great Annual Gathering of South American Ranchmen.' —battle Show at Buenos Aires " also "Scientific Bee Farming." The beautiful scenics —"Korean Ports," "Chinese Amusements," dramatic —"The Duke of Aries," "Exiles Home," "Queen of Hearts," "Through the Clouds," while the comics will be some of the very best ever presented here. The prices for this star programme will be as usual. PIANO-PLAYING RECORD. Mr E. k Travis commenced his tremendous task at 8.30 this morning, and will continue until 10.55 p.m. on Saturday. Travis is an accomplished pianist, find possesses many fine qualities. He does all his playing from the wrist and fingers, his arms being almost motionless. Mr Jimmy Williams is a comedian of high order. During the season he will introduce the harem skirt. Carl Robeni, the lightening ventriloquist, will also appear. Robeni is a naturally gifted ventriloquist, and has appeared in all the large Australasian theatres. Robeni makes his first appearance at Te Kuiti and promises a rare treat in ventriloquism. A dance is arranged for Thursday evening, and on Friday a comic singing competition will be held. Doors are open day and night, and the committee are invited to visit' as often as possible to see that everything is done "above board." The price of admission is within the of all, and bumper houses are assured.
