RAILWAY MATTERS.
MEETING AT PIO PIO. A meeting of ths Mokau-Waiate-whenua Railway League was held at Pio Pio on Saturday, Mr G. Elliott, President, in the chair. There wag a large attendance of settlers and a good amount of business was transacted. A resolution was carried thankirg the Hon. R. McKenzie, Minister for Public Works, for his recognition of the Waitewhenua, Aria and Pio railway route, when speaking at Ohura, and that settlers urge the railway be put in hand at once. The reasons set forth were that tie line would pass through a large art a of first-class country, the greater part of which was agricultural, and also that in view of the recent acquirement of 50,000 acres of freehold land on the Mokau river, which was expected to be at an early date closely settled.
