IRISH ENVOYS.
TO VISIT TE KUITI. A public meeting, called by bis Worship the Mayor, was held on Thursday night in the "Chronicle" office to consider the advisability of inviting the Irish Delegates to visit Te Kuiti. In the absence of the Mayor through illness, Mr A. Schole3 took the chair. Mr Dines reported that he had communicated with the Auckland Secretary and arranged a date, provided that meeting was agreeable. He had also informed him of the resolution passed by the Waitomo County Council. He said that the delegates paid all their own travailing expenses, and wished no banquets or expensive receptions, but that all the funds collected should go towards the objects they were visiting New Zealand for. Messrs O'Dwyer and Hoffman moved, regretting the serious illness of his worship the Mayor and his inability to be present. —Carried. Messrs O'Dwyer and Walsh moved that the delegates be invited to speak in Te Kiuti on June 18th.- Carried. Mesrss O'Dwyer and Bowden moved that Mr Dines be appointed Secretary. —Carried. Messrs Dine 3 and Hoffman moved that Mr Darrow act a3 Treasurer. — Carried. Mr Huffman suggested that lists be prepared and sent out into the country districts for collecting subscriptions from anyone unable to be' present at the meeting. Mr Elliott said it was desirable to canvass the district, but better still for the working committee to get the people to come in to hear the delegates, and the money could be got afterwards. If a thoroughly organised campaign was prepared there would be a good audience. What they wanted was money, of course, but also to let people hear what they had to say. Messrs Dines and Bowden moved that the following constitute a committee: His Worship the Mayor; and Messrs O'Dwyer, Paemako; Forster, Waitomo; Elliott, Pio Pio; Smyth Bros., Aria; Scholes, Hangatiki; Hoffman, Te Rau-a-Moa ; Daiy, Mangaotaki; Gregg and Worthington, Otorohanga; Bevege, Mairoa; Sims, Mora, Darrow, M. J. Jones, Dooley, Cotter and Walsh, Te Kuiti —with power to add. —Carried. It was movfd by Mr O'Dwyer and seconded by Mr Darrow: That this meetirg of citizens of Te Kuiti and surrounding districts tender a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr J. Iletet and Mr Pepene Eketone for their very kind action in granting the use of the Town Ilall on June loth next for the Home Rule meeting, and that a few complimentary tickets be issued and one given to each of the above-named gentlemen for their very kind and generous act. —Carried. A committee meeting followed. Messrs Darrow and Elliott proposed that a dodger be printed and inserted in the papers, and an advertisement be inserted in the "Chronicle." Carried. Messrs Dines and Sims moved that Messrs Scholes, O'Dwyer, Jones, Walsh, Dooley and his Worship the Mayor be the executive committee.— Carried Messrs Jones and Walsh moved that the drafting of the dodgers be left to Messrs Darrow, Dines and O'Dwyer. —Carried.
