ENTERTAINMENTS.
EMPIRE PICTURES. There was another excellent programme arranged at Monday night's show in the Town Hall, and the large audience was as fully appreciative (and demonstrative) as ever. "Auld Robin Grey" was beautifully displayed, the "Ascent of Mt. Portungrat" was a remarkable feat of cine matographic skill and daring, and "The Telephone" was tense with dramatic situations. Next Monday we are promised another entirely new programme, including "Mountain Passes of New Zealand" —magnificent coloured views of New Zealand's grandest, scenery, "Scenes in Darkest Africa, " '' Valetta, " "Two Boys in Blue"—-a stirring Western drama and the usual and popular "Bathe Gazette 1 ." Commencing next week the management pi-omit.!'.-? two shows a week —Monday.-! and Thursdays, and judging by the popularity of every Monday's show there is ample room for the additional one. TUB ALEXANDRA RINK. We are to have another source of enterrnintment in Te Kuiti. Messrs Coles and Grinter have just had erected for them »y Messrs Markwick and O'Uegan, a hnge skating rink at the north end of Bora street, measuring f>(ift by 100 ft long. The floor, made uf Hin mate.!, is pronounced as the strongest in New Zealand, and the facilities offered for taking part in this graceful and health-giving exercise are unsurpassed in any centre in tin; Dominion. A hand rail runs round tho building, and spectators will be able to view the skaters in comfort. Pressing rooms for ladies are provided, and special facilities will be given for teaching the youthful idea how to skate. A grand opening night will lie given on Saturday next, at which his Worship the Mayor of Te Kuiti has promised to perforin the opening ceremony. Miss Bavina Dare, Auckland's favourite balladist, will sing, and Messrs Mora and Coles, trick and fancy skates, will give an exhibition. On Monday night a quarter-mile novice handicap will be run. The new enterprise deserves every success. The amusement is a clean and healthy one, and will tend to make our town more attractive to the younger people of both sexes.
