MOKAU RIVER BRIDGE.

COST £15,000. MINSTER PROMISES HALF. By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent. New Plymouth, This Day. The Minister of Public Works motored from Waitara yesterday to Mokau. The party consisted of Mr W. T. Jennings, M.P., and members of Clifton County and Waitara Borough Councils. Deputations en route saw the Minister, the principal one being about the erecting, of the Mokau bridge, which would connect Taranaki and Auckland districts. The bridge would cost about £15,000. The Minister promised to'contribute half the cost. On the return journey to Waitara, owing to a wash-out on the main road, the motors got bogged, and a deviation was made to Tongaporutu beach to get to the main road again. The Minister, Member, and party had some rough work in getting the motors out, and eventually two horses were brought to the rescue.
