WAIPA RIVER BRIDGE.
The Minister of J'ublie Works writes Mr Jennings in reference to a : letter from Mr W. (J. Shakespeare, of 1 referring to the erection of the Waipa Uridine on the Kawa road, that the amount available is only .L-Ui) at present, and the estimated cost, "f the bridge is &7lU>, so it was not possible to make a commencement with the work'. A large ' sum would have to lie provided before the erection of the bridge could be taken in hand. He had, meanwhile, s.iven instructions to the Uistrict at Auckland to have a section taken of the river, and the necessary data obtained, so that plans for i the erection of the bridge may be i prepared.
