The following were returned as members of Pio Pio School Commit-tee:--Messrs *G. Elliott (chairman), W. Johnston (secretary), W. D. Ilattaway, R. Hickey, G. Bevege, G. Andrews, J. Smith. Notice is given by the Public Works Dtpartmen of intention to take land near Waitomo Cavea house for the use and enjoyment of visitors under the Public Works Act. Particulars appear in another column. Applications for reinstation under the Defence Act, 1909, are not coming in as promptly as anticipated. The attention of all persons required by the Act to enrol is called to an advertisement appearing in this issue, and we trust it will not be found mecessary to enforce the penalties imentioned therein for failure to enrol. Forms of registration may be obtained at any Post Office or Police Station. Mrs Old, who suffered such severe injuries in the recent accident caused by a motor car on the Awakino road, and who i'i lying at " Waremoana," Nurse Hattaway's nursing home, is progressing slowly, but is still unable to leave her bed. She will be confined to bed for some considerable time yet. The total number of bales of wool shipped from the Kawhia wharf this season amounts to 8(i() bales, and 78 dumps, pockets and bags. At a meeting of the Raglan County Council, held at Ngsruawhia on 12th inst., Mr J. W. Civil, of the Public Works Department, Auckland was appointed County Engineer out of twenty-three applicants. Mr N. S. Fox has been appointed assistant master at Te Kuiti school.
