THE AUSTRALIAN NAVY.
WARREGO LAUNCHED AT SYDNEY. By Telegraph..—Press Association. —Copyright Received April 4, 5.55 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. The Warrego was launched in a scene of tremendous enthusiasm. At the luncheon the Governor-General 3aid Australian money would be well spent in the purchase and management of its own ships. Mr Holman proposed a new toast: "The Autralian Navy," and made a speech eulogistic of the builders. Mr Fisher, in responding, said they w ! ere determined that no steps should be left untaken to make their defence perfect for peace, and said they proposed to ask the British Government to allow them the privilege of having thier boats manned by Australians. He hoped to open a navy establishment at Sydney for the education of officers and a training school for the personnel, and repudiated the idea that Australians should lean upon the British navy for support. He did not think Australians were staggered by Admiral Henderson's report.
