|_I!Y TIJ.KI.R U'll. I'H,KSS ASSOCIATION.] Christchurcb, This Day, Alexander Cairey, aged -12, died suddenly about eight yesterday morning. At the inquest the evidence showed deceased was a remittance man and a chronic drunkard. He had been at Pakatoa, but on leading an exemplary existence was released on probation. £l5O remittance money had accumulated meantime, and this he spent in drink in a comparatively brief period. The house where deceased died was characterised by squalor and filth, things rotting on account of the dirt. A verdict of death from chronic alcbolic poisoning was returnd.
