STOCK SALES. The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: At Waihou on March 10th, the entries totalled : ; 76 head of cattle, 1619 sheep and 127 pigs. Fat ewes made lis to 12s 9cl, fat wethers 16s 6d, fat lambs 12s 9d, forward lambs i)s to 9s 9d, store lambs 6s to 8s 2d, weaaer pigs 3s to 7s 6d, slips 14s, fat steers £7 17s 6d to £9, fat heifers (choice quality) £6 17s 6d to £7 17s 6d, heavy fat cows £6 10s to £7 15s, medium cows and heifers £5 to £5 10s, stags and bulls £4 10s to £6, good quality IS months steers £3 10s to £3 19s, 2 year steers £4 ss, 15 months to 18 months steers £3 5s to £3 10s, 15 months heifers £3, good steer calves 37s 6d, to 465, fair calves 33s to 355, smaller sorts 27s 6d to 30s The demand was spirited for all clase3s of stock, and the whole yarding was disposed of. On March 14th and 15th we held our annual autumn horse fair at Cambridge. For all classes of draughts there was an unsatisfied demand, and prices were £5 to £7 10s in advance of spring prices. In stating this we are quoting class offered which was nothing approaching the best that came out to our September sale. There were a few fair hacks and harness horses brought in, and these found a ready sale, but the majority of the light horses were an inferior lot. Taking the sale right through the unbroken stock sold much cheaper than the broken-in horses. Unbroken medium draughts 2i years old £24 to £3O 10=1. light harness and hack sorts £l2 to £IS, for a few, the majority £5 to £lO, best medium draughts broken to work five to seven years £35 to £45, older and lighter sorts £25 to £3O, milk cart sorts £l7 to £22, useful hacks and harness horses £ls to £23, others £lO downwards, altogether 499 horses were offered, and 307 sold, made up as follows: — Unbroken, 142 offered, sold 90; draughts 109 and 77; light horses, 248 and 138. The Suffolk Punch stallion advertised was brought by Mr J. Gaddes, of Morrinsville.
NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY REPORT. By Telegraph.—Special to Chronicle. New Plymouth, Last Night. At the Haymarket last Saturday the pig pens were full and prices obtained were fair, thjugh not quite up to those obtained at recent sales. Slips made 20s 6d, weaners 7s 6d to lis, stores 18s to 225, small do. 12s to 15s. At Rahotu on Tuesday there was a fair yarding with a good attendance of buyers, and the demand being good everything sold at the hammer. A nice line of Holstein heifers by the imported American bull sold, on account of Mr R. Morrow, made £5 3s per head, ordinary weaners made 25s 6d to 26s 6d, yearling heifers r.w.b. £3 12s 6d to £3 15s, store cows £2 14s to £3 Gs, forward cows £4 7s to £4 16s, 18 months steers £3 7s, 20 months steers £3 19s, good condition working bullocks £6 17s 6d, heavy bulls £6 12s to £6 17s, ordinary bulls £3 2s to £4 17s, stags £7 12s, cull ewes 4s 6d.
At Pohokura supplementary sheep fair on Wednesday short lambs made 5s to 6a lid, cull lambs 2s to 3s, 2 tooth to 4 year ewes 8s 5d to 93, f.m. ewes 4s 6d to 6s 7d, 2 tooth Lincoln rams 2J to 3gs., old rams 10a to 15s. At Waiwakaiho on Thursday there was a good yarding. Mixed weaners made 17s to 31s. weaner heifers, Jersey strain 39 6d to £2 2s 6d, weaner steers up to £2 Is. yearling to 15 months heifers £2 Ss to £2 16s, store cows £3 5s to £3 17s 6d, old cows 15s to £2 10s, forward cows £4 5s to £4 15s, fat cows £5 6s, 18 to 20 months steers £3 9s 6d to £3 15s 6d, 2 year steers £2 4s, 3 year steers £4 17s 6d to £5 4s, springing heifers £4 17s 8d to £5 16s, bulls £4 8s to £6 4s, 2 tooth wethers 10s 6d.
