Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: — On Friday, 3rd inst., we held our annual sheep fair at Ngaruawahia, when about 6000 sheep came forward, which was a good bit short of the advertised numbers, due to the dry weather. There was a fair attendance of buyers, and competition was good throughout, except for breeding ewes, which were not sought after. Wethers and lambs, although not bringing the prices we anticipated, solicited brisk bidding, vendors being ready to meet purchasers, and most of this class of stock was sold under the hammer. Prices—Fat lambs 12s 6d, forward lambs 9s 6d to 10s sd, store lambs 6s 7d to 7s, cull lambs 4s 7d to 5s lid, 2 tooth ewes lls Sd, fresh full month ewes 13s Id to 14s Sd, aged ewes 8s to 10s 2d, 2 tooth wethers lis lOd to 12s, 4 tooth wethers 13 lOsd to 15s Id.

The Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., reorp:— At Ohaupo on February Ist, we held our first sheep fair of the season, when the yarding totalled 31,000 sheep. Owing to the dry weather, prices were not as good as were anticipated a few weeks ago, competition not being too brisk. Fat lambs made lis to 13s 9d, forward woolly lambs 6s to 7s 6d, cull lambs 2s 6d to ss, forward wethers 13s to 14s 6d, fat wethers 15s to 16s 3d, small 2 tooth wethers lis to 12s, 4 and 6 tooth ewes 13s to 15s 6d, best sound mouth ewes 10s to 12s Gd, others 8s to 10s, cull ewes 4s 6d to 6s, best 2-tooth ewes 14s to 17s, smaller sorts lis to 13s. In all 24,000 sheep were sold. At our Palmerston North sale on Thursday we had a fair entry of both sheep and cattle. The demand was not keen, except for rape lambs, which sold readily. Quotations:— Sheep—Call ewes 3s Sd, sound mouth ewes 7s 7d to 9s, wether rape lambs to Ss Bd. Cattle—Store cows £2 17s to £o 4s, light fat cows £5 43.
