THE CALEDONIANS
The above talented and popular combination appear in Te Kuiti tonight. There is no need to introduce the genial '•Jock' 7 and his company. The keynote of the company's success, is the fact that they play what they bill and that there is an utter absence of vulgarity in any of the items. Mr Willis ' will-sing some new songs, as also will Mr Colin Cameron, the company's popular tenor. Mr Tarn McLean, the basso, is in splendid form. 'Mr Edward He ad lam is a new member of the company. _ He is a monologue artist, .and his items are everywhere received with delight. Mr Rupert Wensem, has also a great reputation. A feature of the performance is the concerted music, which has caught on immensely. This will be the last opportunity, for some considerable time of hearing this favourite organisation in the old Scotch, English and Irish melodies.
EMPIRE LIVING PICTURES. The programme to be produced at Te Kuiti Public Hall on Monday evening next will, according to all accounts, be one very much out of the ordinary, and should draw a very large attendance. On Wednesday evening it was put on at the Hamilton Town Hall for the first time, and was most enthusiastically received. The "Waikato Argua" of Thursday last contains the following flattering notice:—"Seldom is such an audience seen in Hamilton to witness the change of programme put on by_ the above company. Excellent as have been the productions in the past, the one last night must be classed as the finest yet attempted. The pictures were shown with such marvellous clearness and absence of flicker that it would be almost impossible to find fault with any of them. The wellknown but always popular drama "Uncle Tom's Cabin" was a very fine production indeed, and thoroughly enjoyed by the large audience present. The pictures of Carbine showed the old racer taking walking exercise, etc. He is the same old Carbine of 20 years ago—older and stiffer in the joints, but easily recognisable. The scenic pictures, viz., "White Sea Fisheries" and "Island of Lagoons" were splendid productions, and loudly applauded; in fact, every item of a long programme was" of a very high class order." HASSAN. On Thursday next the Hassan combination will pay Te Kuiti another visit. In addition to the prince of all Indian magicians, Hassan, in a series of new sensational and mysterious feats, Geo. Banveens' company of musicians, direct from all the leading English theatres, will appear. These talented musicians will introduce many novel musicial instruments. In fact their act is a perfect feast of melody. They also introduce many beautiful vocal items. The ever popular comedian, Herbert Anderson, will also appear in a budget of new comic effusions. Miss Ella Martinelli, operatic vocalist, Mr John Lemmone, solo pianist. The Hassan Co. and the Banveen Co. having combined, the public will have the opportunity of seeing the two shows at popular prices.
