BOWLERS AT TE AWAMUTU.
Three teams of bowlers went to Te Awaniutu on Monday, lor the purpose of playing tK> iocr.l club. 1 hey were received 'at the railway station and conveyed in coaches to Jackson s Hotel, where lunch was served. After lunch the party went over to the bowling green, described by one of the players as being "as keen as mustard." Three rinks were formed, as follows: —Stevens, Albrechtsen, Lissaman, Dransfield (skip) ; Chilcott, King, Verrall, Spencer (skip) ; Rouse, McTndoe, Finlay, Cochrane (skip)). Play started at 2.30 p.m., and in order to get full benefit of the daylight thf teams played 31 heads up, instead of the usual 21 heads. As a final result the visiting teams won, in the aggregate, by one point. There was an exciting mnioment when Dransfield came up with one of his proverbial drives, which decided the issue by giving To Kuiti the winning point. The bowlers then adjourned to the hotel, where they were entertained to dinner by the local club. A number of toasts were honoured, and the party returned to Te Kuiti by the midnight express. The teams are loud in their praise of the great hospitality extended to them by the members of Te Awamutu Club. Everything that could possibly be done was done, to make the visit an enjoyable one. It is understood that a return match is to be played on Wednesday week, on the local grounds. Following are the scores total Dransfield's team 34 v. Stewart a 21 Cochrane's ~ 29 v.
