AWFUL DETAILS. A gha'stly TRAGEDY. Received December 21, 1.5 a.m. New York, Yesterday. The explosion injured 125 people, several fatally. Ninety-eight have been admitted to the hospitals. The accident was due to a train of empty cars wrecking a gas pipe at the rear of the buffer stop. The gas accumulated and exploded by an accidental electric spark. A trolly car and an automobile were hurled together by the force of the explosion and four of the latter's passengers kliled instantly. A stenographer was speared through the head by a flying timber joist. A policeman was leading two little girls across the street and one was torn from his hand and hurled yards away, while the other's leg was cut off by flying iron. Tables of the Teachers' Training School, spotted with blood, were blown up from the street, and babies flung out of their beds in the Babies' Home in the vicinity of the explosion. Thousands of windows were wrecked. The fire house collapsed and the powerhouse was wrecked and the cars smashed.

The damage amounts to probably a quarter o" a million sterling.
