THE EMPIRE PICTURES.
$ The Empire Picture Company, which opened in Te Kuiti on Monday night, gave a very satisfactory exhibition. There was a good audience and the pictures proved to be all that is claimed for them. They were large—occupying almost the whole of the curtain—and the majority were absolutely without flicker, looking as nearly like real life as mechanism can possibly be. The programme included the Adventures of Twa Hielan' Laddies—a very amusing film; the Revolution in Portugal, Setting Back the Hands of Time, the Connecting Link, a Modern Prodigal, and numerous educational and sensational films of a distinctly superior character. The only criticsm we can offer is that the titles of the various pictures might be shown a little longer. Pictures may, and do, tell a story, but we like to know it 3 name! The management promises a weekly change of programme, giving the best new films arriving, and if Monday night's standard is kept up there is little doubt the house will be a crowded one. The next performance is on Monday, 2nd January.
