EXCURSION FACILITIES.
To th'i Editor. Sir, —Re the ban on excursionists travelling between Te Kuiti and Auckland on the through express, I have been informed that this has been brought about by the numbers who patronised it both ways last Christmas holidays, and particularly on Christmas Eve, especially Frankton and Te Kuiti passengers. To an ordinary business mind this seems rather good business than otherwise, and a private concern would at once lay themselves out to cater for and encourage the increased traffic. If the passengers offering between the points named are overcrowding the through passengers and the engine power is not sufficient to haul a few extra cars between Te Kuiti and Auckland, where the grades are very much easier than they are further South, the difiieuity could be easily overcome by running .an extra excursion train leaving, say, fifteen minutes behind the through express and stopping at the principal stations between as the day express does. This, I venture to say would be one of the best pitronised trains on the section, and I hope it is not yet too late to arrange for one both ways on Christmas Eve, at least.- I am, etc., EXCURSIONIST.
