BAD ARRANGEMENTS. Rv Telopraiili. - i'res- Association.- Copyright London, Thursday. A special meeting of the British Women's Immigration Association held yesterday discussed the methods of dispatching girl immigrants to Australia, and their treatment on arrival there. Speakers emphasised the fact that no proper immigrants' homes were provided in New South Wales, West Australia, or Queensland, that the arrangements aboard many of the vessels landed the girla friendless and unprotected. The meeting l-esolved to bring definite cases before the AgentsGeneral of the States concerned. Victoria's arrangements were not mentioned, while New Zealand's excellent arrangements were commended.

AGENTS-GENERAL INACTIVE. Received December 10, 9.25 a.m. London, Yesterday. A meeting of the sub-committee of the standing committee of the Colonial Institute, including Lady Talbot, Lady Knightley, and Mrs Joyce, discussed the cjuestio ) of female emigration. All the Agents-General were invited to supply information as to the methods of dealing with emigrants, but only West Australia complied. Mrs Joyce stated it was the custom to take temporary lodgings at the northern ports of Queensland, whence applicants could secure women for bush districts. Seaport lodgings were not the wisest places for girls. Lady Knightly expressed extreme dissatisfaction with the arrangements made by the Agents-General. It was agreed to ask the latter again for information, failing wiiich tho committee will take other steps.
