GARDEN PARTY.

Mc and Mrs Hardy gave an "At H nje" yesterday afternoon at their residence, which stands in a pleasant situation high above the Awakino road. A very large number were present. The weather after a succession of dry and dusty days, had changed in the night, and bore a threatening aspect during the morning, but cleared sufficiently to allow of some out-door activity. Croquet was played on the lawn, and the opportunity taken to admire the gardens, now particularly beautiful. Music gave added variety to the gathering.
