WELLINGTON WOOL SALES. The first wool sale of (he season was held on Tuesday, when various brokers submitted about 1200 bales. There was an unusually large attendance for an opening sale, including representatives from \orkshire, America, France, Germany, and elsewhere, in addition to New Zealand buyers. The wool in most cases opened up clean and bright. It was much heavier in condition than that offered at the fir3l sale of last year, and competition was keen throughout. Prices for fleece wool, as compared with the November sale of 1909, showed a decline of Id to 2d, with the exception of bellies and pieces, which were on a par with the prices then ruling. The following statement shows the prices brought on Tuesday, and at the opening sale last year, the prices quoted first in each instance being those realised this sale: — Greasy halfbred 12d to 13Jd —lOd to 10id; super crossbred 11 Ad to 122 c! 9d to 10id; medium crossbred Sid to 10Jd--7.?d to S.|d; inferior crossbred 6£-d to Bd—7£d to gd; pieces 5d to 7*d —sid to B}d; bellies 5d to 7jj;d—s.Jd to " 7ld ; stained pieces and locks 2d to sd-~2j{d—crutchings 4Jd to 5id —4|d to s^d; dead 7.|d to 7|d 7Jd to SJd,
