The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Hamilton yards, on October 27th, we held our usual stock sale, the yarding consisting of 600 fat sheep, 80 fat cattle 120 pigs, 300 score cattle, 60 dairy cows and heifers, and about 20 bulls. A good enquiry prevailed for all stock and prices were similar to those ruling lately. Shorn fat wethers made 16s Id to 18s, shorn fat ewes 15s, fat ewes in wool 15s to 19s 3d, fat wethers in wool 21s to 245, store ewes in wool 12s, weaner pigs 4s to 10s, slips and porkers 15s to 30s, fat steers £7 19s to £9, fat cows and heifers £5 to £7, forward cows £4 to £4 10s, choice two year dairy heifers £4 to £4 12s, 15 month dairy heifers £3 10s to £4, mixed yearlings £2 5s to £2 10s, good yearling steers £3 to £3 ss, 18 months to two year steers £3 17s 6d, best dairy heifers £6 to £8 ss, backward sorts £4 10s to £5 10s, bulls from £4 to £7 7s for Shorthorn, yearling Jersey bulls £6 6s to £9 9s. At Rangiriri on Wednesday, October 26th, we yarded 960 head of well bred cattle, amongst them 200 fresh conditioned three and four year steers. Three was a good attendance, and competition was keen throughout, prices being quite up to those ruling in Waikato. Forward conditioned 3i to 4 year bullocks sold from £6 16s to £7 10s, fresh 3 year steers £5 10s to £6 Bs, 21 year steers £5 to £5 ss, 2 year steers £4 to £4 14s, 18 months steers £3 9s to £3 18s, choice yearling and 15 month steers £3 14s to £3 15s, other yearling steers £2 10s to £2 19s, fat cows £6 2s 6d to £6 10s, fresh conditioned cows £4 to £4 15s, store cows £2 19s to £3 3s, empty 2 year heifers £3 16s to £4 ss, 15 to 18 months heifers £3 to £3 12s 6d, yearling heifers £2, springing heifers £4 15s to £5 17s 6d, more backward sorts £3 5s to £4, springing cows up to £6 ss, choice 2 year Shorthorn bulls 9 guineas.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: At Ohaupo on Tuesday October 25th, we yarded 860 head of cattle, which mostly sold at late values, the quality of the one and two year old steers and two big lines of two year heifers being Two year steers made from £4 4Pfc £4 15s, 12 to 15 month steers £3 5s to £3 Bs, yearling steers £2 15s to £2 18s, mixed yearlings £2 12s, 2 year empty Holstein heifers £4 12s to £5 10s, Jersey cross heifers £4 15s to £4 17s 6d, Shorthorn heifers £3 16s to £4 10s, fat cows light weights £5 to £6 10s, forward cows £3 10s to £4 7s.
Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report :■ — We held our usual stock sale in our Matamata yards on Wednesday 26th October, when a full yarding of cattle, also a good line of woolly hoggets came forward. There was a record attendance of buyers from the surrounding districts, and competition was keen for all lines, especially for fat cows and forward steers, and hoggets were also eagerly sought after. Most of the lines were disposed of unJer the hammer, and the few that were passed in were sold privately afterwards. We quote as follows : Woolly hoggets, mixed sexes 13s lid to 14s 3d, fat eows £7 4s to £7 ss, fat cows, light £4 17s to £5 7s 6d, fresh forward bullocks £7, two year empty heifers £4 2s 6d, 18 month steers £4 to £4 Is, yearling steers £2 15s to £3 ss, two Shorthorn bulls 15gs, yearlings sgs to Bgs, yearling Jersey bull lOgs, pigs» slips 17s to 18s 3d, weaners 10s Gd to 15s.
High Commissioner's Gable. The following is the High Commissioner's report, cabled under date of 29th October:— Mutton —The market is a shade weaker. Canterbury 4£d, North Island 4d.
Lamb—-The market is very firm. Canterbury s£d, other than Canterbury s£d. Beef—The market is dull, and the supply exceeds demand. New Zealand hindquarters 3Jd, fores 2id.
Butter--The market is lifeless. Large supply of second-class quality on hand affects the market very seriously. A shipment of butter ex lonic arrived in good condition. This season's choicest New Zealand butter is to-day quoted at 112s, ditto stored 109s, Australian 109?, Danish llss, Siberian 104s.
Hemp —The market is lifeless, and there is no change in prices, viz. : New Zealand good to fair on spot £24 10s, fair grade £2l 10s, fair current Manila £2O os. The output of Manila during the week was 26,000 bales.
Kauri Gum—The market is quiet and prices arc slightly weaker. Ordinary to fair three-quarter scraped £8 Tjs, fair to half-scraped £5 2s (id, brown pickings common to good 50s, bush, fair to good pale and amber, scraped £8 10s. Wool —the market is steady, with very good demand.
