U.A.O.D.
At a well-attended meeting of prospective members of the above order, last evening, arrangements were made for the opening of the Te Kuiti branch on Tuesday, October 18th. Correspondence was read from the Grand Secretary, in which it stated that he would be present at the opening, as also would several other Grand Lodge officers. After final arrangements were made l£g the initiation and installation of members, a committee, cunsisting of Messrs Tassell, Simpson, McMeekan, Cobb and Spring, was appointed to arrange details for the holding of a smoke concert in Hattaway's Hall, after the installation ceremony. Invitations will be extended to the Hamilton Lodge to be present at the opening ceremony, also to the smoke concert afterwards. An invitation will also be extended to the officers of the local Oddfellows, and other friendly societies in the town as well as leading citizens. Judging by the support promised to the prospective branch, the Pride of Te Kuiti Lodge should have a most useful future.
