The High cable of the 27th August is as follows, quotations, unless otherwise specified, being the average market price on spot: —■ Mutton. —The market is steady, and prices are well maintained. The price of Canterbury mutton to-day is 3|d, North Island 3£d. Lamb.—The market is quiet, but firm, Canterbury sd, other than Canterbury 41d. Beef. The market is a shade weaker. New Zealand hindquarters 3gd, fores 2|d. Butter. —The market is firm, with more inquiry. Danish 118s, Siberian 106s. Cheese —The market is quiet, but steady, New Zealand 57s 6d. Hemp. —The market is dull, with no change in prices. The output form Manila for the week was 29,000 bales. Expect no immediate change in the market. Cocksfoot seed. —There is a better demand for New Zealand bright clean, 171b to the bushel, at 665. Wheat. - The market is quiet. New Zealand long-berried, ex granary, per quarter of 4961b, 34s 6d; New Zealand short-berried, 33s 6d. Oats.—The market is steady, with fair business doing. New Zealand short sparrowbills, ex granary, per quarter of 3841b, 19s; Danish, ex granary, per quarter of 3201b, 16s 9d. Peas. —The market is firmer, with improved demand. New Zealand Partridge, per 5041b, 445. Kauri Gum. —The market is firm with improved demand. Ordinary fair three-quarter scraped I7os, fair half-scraped 105s, brown fair half to three-quarter scraped 00a, brown pickings, common, good 45a, bush fair good pale amber, scraped 1755.
