MAGISTRATES COURT.

TE KUITI -THURSDAY. Before Mr F. O'B. Loughnan, S.M. Seveval first offenders were fined 5a and costs for being found drunk in the Te Kuiti township. Mrs Harris (Mr Sharpies), v. Harris. —Claim for maintenance. The defendant, who did not appear, was orderd, to pay to the plaintiff £1 per week towards supporting his wife. Rose v. Anderson. —Rose, the collector of dog-tax for the Waitomo County Council, stated that defendant would not pay tax on his dog. Convicted and fined Is, also ordered to pay the dog registration fee of 10s and costs £1 7s Gd.

Earl and Kent v. Bowater.—Judgment for plaintiffs by default, with costs. Baigent (Mr Sharpies) v. Thomas (Mr Finlay.—This was a claim for wages due. Plaintiff was non-suited.

FRIDAY.

The Assessment Court sat in the courthouse, Te Kuiti, at 9.30 on Friday morning, Mr Loughnan, S.M., presiding, assisted by Messrs Tammadge and F. Vercoe as assessors. —Thero were only four objections put forward. In two cases amicable settlements were arrived at, and in the remaining two cases the objectors did not appear.
