COST OF A MILKING MACHINE.
Do not estimate this by the price you pay for it. The cost can only be counted by the return you get from it. If it is a continuous success the first cost is of little consequence. If a plant costs you £2OO and you can save this amount in labour in the first two years it means that you are getting a return of £IOO per annum on your outlay. If, however, the plant does not continue to milk successfully after the first season it means that you lose the first cost of your plant with, perhaps, a good slice out of your milk cheques, not to mention the worry and cost of spoiling a valuable herd. The difference in first cost between a cheap and possibly untried milker, and a welltried and reliable machine like the L.K.G. is only a few pounds. Will you risk the first cost of your plant and £IOO per annum for the rest of your natural life to save a few pounds when buying? We don't think so. Book early to avoid the rush.
