The second meeting re the raising | of a loan to metal the main road to Otorolianga was held in the school room at 3 p.m. on Saturday, 30th ult. A full muster of settlers proved that there was proper appreciation of the importance of the proposal. Mr Williamson again occupied the chuir, and Mr Hargreaves acted as hon. secretary. Mr Williamson made a report of the result of his trip to Te Kuiti and the meeting at Rau Mauku, which was very satisfactory to all present. In view of the Ministerial statement that the Government would give £ for £, the Rau Mauku settlers had agreed to a loan of £4OOO being raised, instead of the £2OOO first proposed. Mr Budden then moved that they rescind the previous proposal for a loan of £2OOO making it £4OOO, to be laid out as follows: —£2600 on main road between the Moakurarua stream and the junction of the Otorohanga-Pirongia road; £l5O from said junction to Waipa bridge; £4OO on the Rau Mauku road; £4OO on Tapuae road; £250 on the Oamuru road; £75 on the Nutinui (or West's road) ; £75 on Turatea road. This proposal was finally agreed to after the followins modifications had been agreed to, viz.: that £SO be ,spent on the Turatea road and £IOO on West's road; that £2300 be opent on the main road to the Tapuae junction; £3OO to be kept in hand to finish the road between the said junction and the Moakurarua stream, when the Government had widened this section of the road. II the Government grant £ for £ then the amounts to be spent will be proportionately increased. Those present then signed all papers necessary to carry out the raising of the loan at the earliest date. This is certainly the most important public meeting held in the district, and will lead to a large increase in the value of every section interested,
