Messrs Dalgety and Co., -Ltd., Auckland, report as under on their Westfield stock fat market:— Beef—An average yarding. Really tip-top bullocks sold at late rates. Ordinary quality were lower about Is per hundrei. Prime ox sold at *qual to 245, ordinary quality about 221 per hundred. Veal—At late rates, full yarding. Mutton—A very large yarding. The demand was only fair and prices fell fully 2s per head compared with last eaje. Extra heavy wethers fetched up "to 24s 3d, ordinary quality 18a to 20s, light 14s 6d to 17s 3d. Lambs—A small yarding, best heavy sold at up to 14s 9s, others 8s to 12s. Pork—At late rates.
C. B. Lever's auction report:— On Saturday last there was a moderate att'indahce at my usual Mart sale. Pulluts near laying made 2s 6d to 3s, a quantity of sundries made low rates. On Thursday I held a clearing, sale at Pio Pio on account of Mr V. S. Hattaway, when there was a good attendance and satisfactory prices were realised. Aged horse made £3 6s, mower £ls 10s, disc harrows £7 17s 6d, tipod harrows £6 15s, stack oaten sheaf £3O, furniture and sundries sold well.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report:— We held our montly sale at Te Awamutu on Saturday last, 26th inst., when 350 head of cattle came forward, and nearly all Bold under good competition. Fat cows made £5 Is to £5 7s 6d, empty cows in fresh condition £2 19s to £4, 3 year heifers in calf £5 5s to £6 ss, 2 year old steers £3 18s to £4 10s, 20 month's steers £3 4s to £3 10s, 18 month steers £2 18s, 18 month heifers £2 16s, calves 32a to 41s, small calves 23s to 26p; weaner pigs 8s to 12s 6d; fat wethers 16s 6d.
On Monday, 27th, in conjunction with the Farmers' Auctioneering Company we held a- clearing sale at Ohaupo, on account of Mr W. Gf Abbott. The dairy cows made from £0 58 to £9, Holstein heifer calves £2 13s, steer calves £2, breeding sows £3 5s to £4 l'ss; weaner pigs.Ts to 10s, slips 18s; tools and sundries at good prices.
The farm of 217 acres did not reach the reserve at auction, but was sold afterwards.
