TE KUITI RAILWAY STATION.
Minister Interviewed. During Major Lusk's visit to Auckland last week in connection with the meeting of the New Zealand Farmers' Union Executive, he met the Hon. J. Millar (Minister of Railways) and took the opportunity on behalf of the Borough Council to press upon his notice the condition of Te Kuiti railway station and the necessity for a carriage on the morning goods train. Major Lusk pointed out (what was new to the Minister) that the station premises had been built wrong side round in anticipation of an ultimate move. He described the scandalous situation of things, the imminent risk of life, and generally dealt with th •. whole question, pointing out that the traffic, both goods and passenger, had increased beyond all expectations. The Minister admitted he did not know that the premises hal been built as they had been. A number of papers dealing with the subject had reached him and he would call for a complete report, which would enable him to come to some decision. While holding that it was necessary to curtail certain general expenditure he admitted the necessity of doing something for Te Kuiti at an early date.
