Otorohanga Juniors v. Te Kuiti Juniors.
Prior to the senior match the above juniors met on the Otorohanga ground *_ vpn Saturday last. This was the first flfeppearance of the Hangatiki team, ([vwho are affiliated as Te Kuiti juniors. "*• Otorohanga won the toss and played in the first spell with a strong wind behind them. After playing for about a quarter of an hour Tu Cribb crossed the line for Otorohanga, the kick at goal failing. Otorohanga forwards kept pressing the Te Kuiti men and from a forward scramble again scored, this time the shot at goal was successful. For some time play remained in mid-field and half time was called without further score. Shortly after resuming the game Tewipa scored for Te Kuiti, the attempt at goal proving fruitless. Te Kuiti for some time had Otorohanga penned in and looked dangerous, but could not score. Shortly before the call of time the Otorohanga forwards rushed up the field and from a scramble scored another try, the kick at goal failing. The whistle went with the score —Otorohanga 11, Te Kuiti 3. Mr Eveleigh acted as referee.
NOTES. Both teams included what may be termed likely looking players. Though both sides shewed some good individual play, yet it was obvious that coaching and training were very necessary. Nevertheless, it is gratifying to see good material coming on from which the senior teams of the future are to be chosen, and there is no doubt that some of the players in this game shewed signs of promise, and only require bringing out.
