OPENING THE WAIPA WATERWAY.

A public meeting will be held in the Public Hall, Pirongia, on Monday next to receive the report of Mr W. H. Adams, engineer to the Waitomo County Council, in connection with the opening up of the higher reaches of the Waipa river for navigation. The question of the opening up of our rivers as highways is an important one, and taken in conjunction with the proposed Waikato - Manukau canal scheme should receive careful attention. The whole of the residents in the country served by the Waikato and Waipa rivers should be interested in this matter, and it is hoped that there will be a large and representative attendance at Monday's meeting. Amongst those who will probably be present are Messrs W, li, Herries, H. J. Greenslade and W f T. Jennings, M P.'s, as well as representatives from Te Kuiti and Otorohanga,
