TE KUITI VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
A meeting of the above brigade was held in Mr Hattaway's sample rooms on Monday evening. Captain Ford occupied the chair, and there were present —Foreman Nicholson, Secretary Jane, Firemen Fitzmaurice, McNaught, Cantlen, Davie, Erickson, Benden, Jack Cobb, E. Doube, Hatten, Rutherford, Mathieson. Apologies for absence were received from Firemen C. Matthew, Cobb, Blackman and HattaWay. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr Garmonsway was proposed and duly ejected a member of the brigade. Proposed thqt £h,e brigade hold a dance in two months' time, the following to be a committee to carry out same:—Captain Ford, Foreman Nicholson, Firemen Fitzmaurice, Hatton and Secretary Jane. Moved that the brigade turn out for practice on Monday evening next. ' Secretary Jane furnished a draft of the proposed rules for the brigade, the same being read to the members. —It was resolved on the motion of Foreman Nicljolspn Fireman Qrahanj that the confirming pf tha rules stand ovpr for two months.
Secretary Jane offered to provide a paper on fire brigade organisation and address the firemen on preservation of life and propery, life saving and fire extinction;. also to give instruction on the Theory and practical work and recreation of firemen at some future date, if of&sr is accepted.—lt was decided that consideration, of Secretary Jane's stand over till the next meeting.
