TE KUITI DOMAIN.

The secretary of the Domain Board (Mr W. Lorigan) wrote Mr Jennings, M.P;, some months ago with reference to payment by the Government of the amount advanced for the purchase of the freehold of the Domain by members of the Board. The following reply has been received by Mr Jennings from Sir Joseph Ward, Minister of Lands: — Wellington, 23rd May, 1910. Sir, —Re Te Kuiti Domain Board. — Referring to your letter to me of the 10th December last, my reply to you of the 18th idem., and the subsequent interview which the members of the Te Kuiti Domain Board had with the Under-Secretary of Lands, I have now arranged to place the sum of .£7!) 6s J)d upon the Estimates, being the balance of payment for the freehold of the Domain, which was advanced by the members of the Board for the purchase of the site. This is practically a subsidy from the Government towards tho purchase of the Domain. As there was no balance left from the small general vote I could not grant the amount during the past financial year, and a special appropriation will now have to be taken during the comine session of Parliament. —J. G. WARD.
