The Farmers' Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report: — At Ngaruawahia last Wednesday we yarded 3155 sheep, comprising 2034 wethers, 512 ewes and 609 lambs. There was a good attendance, and spirited bidding Big framed fat and forward wethers made 14s 7d to 15s 2d, smaller sheep lis 9d to 13? 7d, less conditioned wethers 10s lOd to lis 2d, shorn lambs Bs, woolly lambs, small 7s 9d to Bs, mixed ewes in lamb 9s lid to 10s 2d, 4 tooth ewe* 12s Id, fresh, full mouth ewes lis to lis 7d. On the same day we yarded 300 head of cattle. Three and a-half year bullocks sold from £5 to £5 ss, 2\ and 3 year steers £3 17s, 18 to 20 month steers £2 15s to £4, forward conditioned empty cows £3 15s to £4 10s, heifers in calf £4 10s to £5 7s 6d. By direction of the Hon. the Minister, under the Hauraki Plains Act, we held a sale of 500 head of cattle at Pipiroa, Hauraki Plains, on Thursday, May 19th, the stock being sold because the grazing grounds had been acquired by settlers. The cattle had been carefully selected and were in an extremely well bred lot, consequently there was no difficulty in obtaining buyers. Two to 2\ year steers made £3 17s, 1_ year steers £3 4s, yearling steers £2 ss, 2 to 2J year heifers in calf £3 16s to £4 12s 6d, H to 2 year empty heifers £2 ]os to £3 2s, heifers calves £1 17s 6d.
HIDES, SKINS AND TALLOW SALE. Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Auckland, report having held their usual weekly sale on Tuesday, 17th inst., clearing a large catalogue. Hides —Market keeping very firm. We quote extra stout ox B_d, stout 7§d to 7|d, medium 7d to 7Jd, light ejd to 6gd, cow, best lines to 6fd. good 6Jd to 6Jd, inferior s_d to s|d, stags 4Jd to sd, kips to 6|d, calf, best 84d, good 6_»d to 7d, damaged hides 3£d to 4£d. Sheepskins—Market brisk. Butchers' best pelts and lambs to 4s 2d, good 3s to 3s lOd, medium 2s 9d to 2s lid, small Is 6d to 2s 3d, dry skins, large to 5s 6d. Tallow—Market continues firm. Best mixed 27s 6d, good 26s 6d, medium 22s to 235, rough fat l£d to Ifd per lb. Cow tails—ls 8d per dozen. Horse hair—ls to Is 6J per lb. Bones—£4 17s 6d per ton.
