WAIKATO HOSPITAL BOARD.
The Year's Estimates. The Waikato Hospital Board held an adjourned meeting at theßoard offices on Friday. Mr John B'isher presided, and there were also present —Messrs Johnstone, Young, Teasdale, Shaw, Swayne and Keeley. Leave of absence was granted Messrs Paterson and Worsp. The following schedule of estimated expenditure from the committee s=t up to go into the matter, was read by the secretary:—The Board having found that the estimated expenditure required for capital is £IOOO, and for the maintenance of the institution and distribution of charitable aid in the district £7OOO, after making all deductions as required by the Act of 1909, amounting to £1961, now finds the remainder to be allocated for contribution by the Minister of Finance to be £4106 Is 2d, and by the local authorities £3893 lOd. The following schedule of valuations and contributions of the contributory local bodies, drafted by the same committee, was also read by the secretary:— Waipa County Council, £1,579,371, £685 2s 6d. Waikato, £1,290,906, £559 19s 9d. Ra|lan, £1,055,184, £457 14s Bd. Waitomo, £800,363, £347 3s lOd. Piako, £715,722, £3lO 9s 7d. Matamata, £660,615, £286 lis 6d. Hamilton.Borough, £396,174, £l7l 16s lid. Taupo East County, £391,613, £169 17s Sd. Kawhia, £357,497, £155 Is 7d. Ohura, £298,182, £129 7s. Awakino, £262,841, £ll4 ss. Rotorua Town, £250,000, £IOB 9s. Taupo West County, £210,443, £9l 6s 2d. Cambridge Borough, £192,072, £B3 6s sd. Frankton Town Board, £168,681, £73 3s sd. Rotorua County, £114,568, £49 14s. Huntly Town, £102,779, £44 lis 9d. Te Aroha Borough, £68,537, £29 14s 7d. Morrinsville Town, £26 8s Id. Total valuations, £8,976,395; contributions, £3893 18s lOd. The chairman in moving the adoption of the schedule, said the commit tee had gone carefully into the matter and the allocations had been made after deep consideration. The financial working during the past year had been very satisfactory, and in future the Government subsidy would be on the basis of £1 Is 3d to every £l, contributed by the Board. The speaker also said that according to the new Act, the Board would be able to sue local contributing bodies for the amount of their contributions, at the dates on which they were due. —The allocations were adopted by the Board and a copy was authorised to be sent to each of the bodies included in the schedule.
