Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report: —At Westfield on Wednesday there was a full yarding of fat cattle, which sold at the first-class values of last week. Steers made £5 12s 6d to £lO 15s, cows and heifers £3 10s to £6 10s, young fats sold freely, heavy £2 13s, medium 18s to 325, small 3s to Bs. Sheep yarded in large numbers, had a firm sale, a large number being taken for export. Extra heavy wethers made 18s 9d to 20s 9d, heavy prime 16s to 17s 6d, medium 14s to 15s 6d, heavy ewes 13s to 14s 6d, others 9s 9d to lis, lambs met with ready sale, best shorn lambs lis 3d to 12s 6d, woolly 12s to 13s 9d, others 10s to lis 6d, stores 4s 6d to Bs. Pigs, baconers £2 8s 6d, large porkers £1 9s 6d to £1 16s 6d,smaller £1 3s to £1 Bs, slips 14s to 19s 6(3, weanera 4s 9d to lis 6d.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report: —We held our opening sale in the pound yard at Matamata on Wednesday, 6th inst., when a full yarding of cattle and a good number of sheep came forward, and the sale was a pronounced success. • At first bidding was slack, but, however, imnroved as the sale went on. Nearly all the lines were sold under the hammer, and the remainder were disposed of afterwards at satisfactory prices. There was an attendance of settlers from all round the district and the advent of the company starting operations in that centre was welcomed all round. Quotations: Aged ewes 7s 3d, forward shorn lambs 8s 6d, small shorn lambs 5s 9d, prime fat cows, very good £5 15s, fat steers £5, fat cows, ordinary £4 7s to £4 9s, 18-month to 2-year steers £3 2s 6d, 18 month empty heifers £2 Bs, 18month heifers in calf £2 Bs, bulls £2 7s 6d to £2 lis, calves 26s to 27s 9d.
