KING COUNTRY ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.
The annual general meeting of the above Society was held in Mr Mussen's office on Friday evening. Present — Messrs Moorhouse (chairman), Lusk, Handley, Pitcon, Sharpies, Cotcer, Sims, V. Hattaway, Adams, Matthews, Snadden, V. Kirk, G. Otway and Broavlfoot. The following new members were elected:—Messrs Shannon, V. Hattaway, Dransfield, Foy, D. Pettitt, E. Pettitt, Handley, J. O'Brien, P. J. Quick, N. Wallace, F. Darrow, C. McAdam and Dr. Sloman. A letter was received from the Auckland Society, requesting support in applying for an open season. It was decided that the secretary should write a memorandum on the subject. The question of taking advantage of Mr Whitney's offer of mallard ducks ar.d partridges was discussed and Mr Cotter's offer to find a site and pay half the cost of netting and hatchery for game.—lt was decided to gratefully accept the offers and the president, secretary and Messrs Cotter and Lusk were deputed a committee to act in the matter. ■ On the proposition of Mr Sharpies, seconded by Mr Lusk, Mr Moorhouse was elected president, and Mr Mussen was re-lected hon. secretary on the motion of Mr Moorhouse seconded by Mr Cotter. It was proposed by Mr Moorhouse that the vice-presidents be re-elected, with Mr D. Anderson junr. in the place of the late Mr Hunt. Mr J. A. Matthews proposed that Mr Dransfield be elected in place of Dr Fullerton. The list of vice-presidents was adopted as follows:—Messrs Dransfield, D Anderson, W. Johnston, Pepene Eketone, J. Francis, R. Snaddon and G. Elliott. The following appointments were made: —Te Kuiti Council: Messrs Sims, Somerville, Snaddon, C. Matthew, Lusk, Forsyth, J. Hetet, Adams, A. C. Johnston and W. Lorigan. Mangaotaki: Mr R. Bailey. Puketutu: Dr Sloman. Otorohanga: Mr R. Green and a second member to be nominated by Otorohanga district. The remaining Councillors were reelected. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs Hargreaves, McLuckie, D. Anderson, Thomasen, J. Francis and E, Hardy for their services in distributing fry throughout the district under difficult circumstances The meeting then went into committee to discuss the appointment of rangers, as they had information that dynamite was being used in Maungahoe and other districts for destroying fish. —Oil the motion of Mr P. Lusk, seconded by Mr Moorhouse, the secretary was empowered to act in the appointment of honor ary rangers for the district. A vote of thanks to the chair concluded the meeting.
