All cattle sold well at advanced prices; especially calves for which there was brisk competition, and every pen fold under the hammer. Weaner pigs were also well sought after, and found ready purchase at advanced pricess. On Monday, the 21st intant, we held a clearing sale on account of Messrs Tompkins and Ccrnfoot, on their farm on the Ohaupo road. There was only a fair attendance of buyers, but those that were present were all genuine bidders, and most of the lines were keenly sought after. All cattle sold well, but the sheep did not bring the competition we anticipated, no doubt on account of the many sheep fairs lately held, and the fact that'most of the lots were aged ewes. All implements and tools sold well, and commanded good competition, due to them being in good order and well kept. We quote as follows: —-Forward ewes, Ss lid; cull ewes, 7s; lambs, 8s 7d; fat killers, small, 10s 2d; dairy cows, £5 2s 6d to £5 17s 6d; fat cows, £3 16s; forward cows, £2 14s; cows and calves, £2 16s; 18-months steers, £2 lis; yearling steers, £2 3s; yearling heifers, £1 14s; calves, £1 10s. On Thursday, 24th inst., at Westfield we held our usual weekly sale of store and dairy cattle. The demand fpr dairy cows was rather limited, and the majority of the cows were passed in, Store cattle fetched late prices. On Thursday, the 24th instant, we held our usual monthly stock sale at Cambridge, when we had a splendid yarding of sheep and a few pens of cattle, mostly young stuff. Despite the fact that the annual ram fair was being held at Ohaupo the same day, we had a most successful sale, and although a good many pens were passed in, due to the high reserve placed upon them, we cleared most of the yarding directly afterwards.
