The singles tournament on the local tennis courts were concluded en Saturday. _ The results were as follows: — Ladies, 41 up. First Round. Miss W. Johnson, owes 35, beat Mrs Fetch, scratch, 41 —13. Miss Tomlinson, owes 10, beat Mrs King, owes 5, 41—16. Mrs Orr a bye. Second Round.
Miss -Johnson, owes 35, beat Mrs Orr, owes 20, 41—29. Miss Tomlinson a bye. Final.' Miss Johnson, owes 35, beat Miss Tomlinson, owes 10, 41—22. Men's, 61 up. First Round.
B. W. Hayson, owes 27, beat J. Reid, owes 15, 61 —39. A. E. McCracken, owes 25, beat E. Fisher, owes 20, 61—32. J. C. Rist. owes 17, beat J. W. Orr, scratch, 61—47. D. H. Seymour, owes 23, beat H. Johnson, 61 —45. A. Goodall, owes 15, beat by default P. Cotter, scratch. Second Round. B. W. Hayson beat A. Goodall, 61—43. A. E. McCracken, beat J. C. Rist, 61—36. D. H. S».ymour a bye. Third Round. * A. E. McCraeken beat D. H. Seymour, 61 —33. B. W. Hayson a bye. Final. A. E. McCracken beat B. W. Hayson, 61—27. The prize for the ladies' tournament was a gold-mounted greenstone brooch, and for the men's was a silver sovereign case. A local team will visit Te Kuiti on Saturday next to play a match. The personnel of the team will be as under: —Ladies' singles: Miss Winifred Johnson; ladies'doubles: Miss Johnson and Miss French; combined doubles: Mrs Orr and Mr A. E. Mc-. Cracken; men's doubles: Messrs Seymour and Fisher; extra men's doubles: Messrs Seymour and Hayson; men's singles: B. W. Hayson.
