- ♦ ■-- One of the finest water carnivals ever held in this province has boon arranged to take place on the Waikato River at Hamilton on Saturday iie.\(, | the 29th inst. Arrangements have been mada to include in the programme five Maori canoe events, three canoe-hurdle races, and two big r:ice:i for war canoes. The entries generally have exceeded all expectations, and it is only neoessary to point out that in 'the two war |canoe races 101 Maoris "will take part, to give some idea of 'how interesting and exciting such, events will ; be. The canoe hurdle, are always popular and cxeit•jiirg.
