TAUMARUNUI LAND SALE
An important sale of township sections was held at Taumarunui on Thursday, when 45 eections were offered. The sale was conducted by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited. There was a very large attendance of the public and bidding was keen through out. The land is owned by family, and is situated to the north d(> the original Native township, extend ing along the bank of the Ongaruo river from the railway to the river landing. The .tenure offered was leasehold for a term of 42 years, with two-thirds compensation for improvements. The block was surveyed and cut up in sections of about j-acre each by Mr R. C. Jordan, of Te Kuiti, and the rentals were fixed at prices ranging from £2 to £lO per section. The goodwill of the sections was offered at auction and made from £3 to £4O each, the highest price being obtained for a section close to the railway. Altogether thirty-five lots were sold out of the total of forty-five which were offered and the,result must bo regarded as highly satisfactory. Local buyers were greatly in evidence, and secured most of the sections, thus evincing every 'confidence in the stability and future q£ tho township. When the new secttona are improved and built on tl}e result add greatly to the appearance pf tho town.
