KAWHIA REGATTA.
The regatta held on Friday proved an immense success. The weather was all that could be desired, and the events were well contested. The event of the day was the ladies' pairoar race, eight boats starting The ladies pulled half a 'mile against a strong wind and tide in splendid Btyle. The winners were Mrs Fred Wade and Miss D. Whitcombe. The events were as follows:—
Sailing race, 14ft. boats: Huia 1, Rougo 2/
Pair-oat pulling race: N. Armstrong 1, J. Morgan 2. q Open sailing race, keel boats: Neilson's Charm 1, Pearce's Tainui 2. Boys' pulling race: O'Connor 1, Morgan 2. Swimming race (men): O'Connor 1, E. Hamilton 2.
Ladies' pair-oar race: Mrs Fred Wade and Miss Whitcombe 1, Mrs Newton and Miss Forbes 2. Canoe hurdle race: Moke 1. Canoe hurdle race (women): Iwikau 1.
Sailing race (allcomers): J. Neilson's Charm 1, F. Gibbons' Huia 2. Strand Marathon race: F. Nesbit 1, French 2.
Swimming race (horse and rider): E. D. Hamilton 1. Faunch race: F. Newton's Marora 1, Whitcombe's Tamure and Hunter's Dairymaid tied for second place. Kopapa race: Moke 1, Nelson 2. Canoe hurdles (under and over): Rakaunui 1, Moke 2. Corfu dive: V. Nesbit 1. Bunr ace: W. Wilson 1.
Water tournament: E. D. Hamilton 1.
