OBITUARY.

_— + The death took place on Thursday last at Mokau of Kingi Wetere, a wellknown and highly respected Maori. The deceased, who was of high rank, was the father of Mr T. King Wetere, and father-in-law of Pepene Eketone. For many years Kingi lived at Map«u, beyond Pio Pio, but recently had been residing at Mahoenui, where he owned considerable land. A few years ago the deceased's eyesight became affected, and gradually got so bad that he was practically blind. A large tangi is now being held at Mpkau Heads.
