PAEMAKO.
A farewell social was tendered by a comber of resident* last week to Miss Stirling, who has for some considerable time been staying with Mr Anderson. The function, at which Mr Bineoek presided, was held in the schoolroom and was attended by about 40 people. Dancing, interspersed with songs, filled in a very pleasant evening, JJtrSincock, in referring to the departure of the guest, spoke of the manner in which Miss Stirling bad entered into their lives, and bad taken part in their pursuits. He heartily wished the visitor Godspeed on bebalf of those present. Miss Stirling suitably responded, and thanked those present for their good wishes. Shearing in the district has now finished, and it is expected there will be about 400 bales of wool taken from Paemako, Mangaotaki, and Mairoa. This gives some indication of the manner in which the district is developing. If the other districts surrounding Te Kuiti give return in like manner, the golden fleece will be very much in evidence in the King Country.
