MAROKOPA.
Own Correspondent.
Mr C. F. Atkinson of Nokuhakari, came round in his surf boat lost Friday for a load of stores returning the same day. Mr W. Bell, manager of the Marokopa Milling- Company, was in Auckland last week for the purpose of making better arrangements for shipping timber from this port, the s.s. Rothesay being too small for tbc timber trade. I understand that arrangement* have been entered into which will be an improvement on tbo present service as far as the shipping of timber is concerned.
Mr Newton King, who has large interests at Nukuhakari is expected to pay a visit to this district next week when it is probable there will be a discussion on dairy factory and otber matters of local importance. Mr G. T. Murray, district engineer who has been on a visit to this part has made crrangemenas for tbe building of several bridges in tbe neighbourhood. Tbe timber has been cut for some time.
A local resident has given a trophy valued at £5 for a race at the local sport?. It is opea to any horse at the meeting, though tbe horse has to be nominated and ridden by a lady. A similar item on the programme last year was very popular and drew a large entry.
